WB News v2.0.0 Released

Posted By: Paul Mcilwaine @ 30-06-2008 09:25PM
WB NewsI am pleased to announce after 1 year of development, and 4 months of beta testing that WB News v2.0.0 has now finally been released. It is a major upgrade for those currently using 1.4.x and you will need to have a minimum version of 1.4.4 installed to be able to cleanly upgrade.

Major changes include:
  • Complete Template Engine rewrite
  • Usergroup bit permissions system
  • A Rich Text Editor for adding news
  • Ability to save News as Drafts
  • Ability to release and archive news when you want
  • Category permissions based on usergroup assignment

The entire API has been been almost re-written from the ground up to be supporting out of the box PHP 5 and MySQL 5. With so many changes there are bound to be many hidden things for most users so documentation is currently being prepared to get the most out of WB News. I highly recommend all sites currently using WB News v1.x to upgrade.
